Deconstructing Dracula by hmonster4Twilight, Rated M, B/E, Mixed POVs, AU, LEMONS
Straight from the brilliant mind of hmonster4, who also brought us 1/2 of Breakfast at Tiffany's, I present to you, Deconstructing Dracula. Now, I'll be honest, I've passed this story up a few times because I didn't like the title. I know, so very prejudice of me :( I am so glad I finally decided to read it. It's definitely on my top favorites list. And hmonster4, if you are reading this, I love the fact that Emmett is from WV in this story, because coincidentally, that's where I'm from. :)
This entire story is about Bella doing a dissertation on Dracula. If you are unfamiliar with the story, it's okay. You aren't required to be to enjoy this.
Bella has just gained enough courage to end her four year relationship with Mike. He never believed in her, and thought her work was unimportant although it was an obvious obsession to Bella. Months later, her best friend and room mate, Rosalie, is offered a job in London for six months. After some hesitation, Bella finally decides to go with her. She picks up and leaves everything behind, which is completely out of the norm for her.
On the flight there, she meets the fabulous Emmett and they become fast friends. Throughout the story, he is her shoulder. Once in London, she meets with a professor to discuss her dissertation. Jasper Whitlock. Jasper invites her out for a few drinks with he and his wife, Alice. Alice's brother, Edward joins them. Edward does everything he can to push Bella's buttons and she finds him infuriating as well as unbelievably attractive.
They play a game of cat and mouse until Bella finally gives in. But as soon as she does, she discovers that someone in Edward's past life still haunts him. And upon that discovery, realizes that she will be haunted by Edward's ghost, too. Without waiting for an explanation, Bella storms out of Edward's apartment. His life.
All the while, Emmett has ironically been try to win over Rosalie, but Rosalie is too stubborn to accept anything Emmett has to offer. Bella and Emmett try to find an attraction in each other to get Edward and Rosalie out of their minds, but it just doesn't work.
Then, Bella must decide. She cannot get Edward out of her thoughts and after hearing his explanation, she must decide if it is all worth going for. But, she is also supposed to return to the States. Edward has no intention of leaving London. How will they resolve their issues? Will Bella finally let herself live enough to enjoy her undeniable connection with Edward?
I could go on and on about this story, but I better just stop and let you guys read it! Lots of tangles webs and unexpected emotions. I totally cried my eyes out in Chapter 15. Enjoy!
A little piece of the story:
He laughed and stared directly into my eyes. “You have no clue what to do when life is not planned out. You need to learn how to live on the edge, to take chances.”
He stayed there, still, looking directly at me, that same self satisfied smirk on his face. I was waiting for him to do something, anything. My eyes darted quickly to his lips, then back to up. He saw it, and the smile broadened.
He reached up, and traced the edge of my lower lip with his thumb.
“It doesn’t work that way. If you want it, you have to be willing to go after it.” He could sense my indecision. “You are waiting for me to kiss you, or to touch you again. I am not going to. If you want something, you’ll need to figure out a way to go after it on your own.”
My eyes must have gone wide, as Edward laughed. “Oh this is going to be fun. You don’t take risks, and you’ve never been pushed. I am going to enjoy getting to know you, Isabella.”
It was the first time he had said my name since we met, and the sound of it gave me a chill. The man had barely even touched me, and I was ready to spontaneously combust.
“Goodnight, Isabella.”
