If Wide Awake if my favorite Fan Fic, then this one is my second favorite. It's freakin ridiculously wonderful. I will admit, the first chapter almost made me stop reading it, because of the constant POV switches, but I kept reading. The POV switches work for this story and become less and less frequent.

All of the Cullens are vampires, and Alice's best friend, Bella, is a human. Bella is saved by the Cullens and learns their secret. While Jasper, Emmett and Carlisle are out hunting, they discover a dead body. But not dead in the sense you are thinking, dead as in immortal.

The starved and abused vampire is at first mute, frantic, nervous, and seemingly violent. He has a terrible past and doesn't even know that he's a vampire. He will only let one person near him, he will only open up to one person. The human friend that has been granted access into the world of immortals.

What happens when the Volturi learn of his existence? Who starved and beat him? Who is he and where did he come from?

This story is unfinished, but let me just say that michellephants is doing a wonderful job so far. I cannot wait to read the rest.

Part of me realized I should be afraid to approach him. He was terrified and he was lethal, and I assumed that that combination was the reason the others had forbid me to come to this house at all. But there he sat, pushed as far into the corner as he could manage, his back to me. His knees were pulled so tightly to his chest that I think he would actually be incapable of breathing even if he had to. My heart lurched.
I could see every curve of his ribs as they curled around his sides. I could make out every single distinct disc of his spine. It was obvious that he was starved. His frame trembled slightly at the sound of my footsteps, slowly descending down the staircase. I couldn’t make my feet stop if I wanted to, and I didn’t want to. I didn’t doubt that, as weak as this vampire was, he could snap me in half before I could blink.
